Hi all,

The crowds have left and the Sun is having a quiet time after all the fuss on the fifth. Not a whole lot to see today but the weather was so good I could not pass on the opportunity. Some nice prominences showing in H-a and a new spot group coming about in the East as others are moving to the Western limb.

Mel,
Great sketches. What do the numbers on the sun spots mean?

Thank you Frank and Roland. Your comments are always appreciated. And thanks also Stephen. The numbers by the spots are a shortened form of the spot group number begun in 1972 and represents AR (for active region) 11494 for instance. For convenience it is just called group 1494.

Mel,

Fantastic work! I am thinking more and more to acquire a h-alpha telescope. Did not make up my mind yet on what instrument...

Thank you Rutilus and Jean.

@Jean, I would bet you will enjoy an H-a scope. I certainly have and not regretted it for an instant.
