Hi all,
For some reason my scanner won't work on my computer, so I scanned a few sketches on another machine. I'm somewhat satisfied with this M-97 sketch. Took me a long time to get the eyes correct. You can just barely see the mag. 10 star on the NE side--a little fainter than it should be. (I fixed this during processing). No.2/HB pencils, plain white paper. If the size is too small, I'll re-scale.

Matt,

Very nice sketch, your sky is better than mine. I don't see M-97 this well without a filter using a scope of the same aperture as yours.
Well done.

Frank :)

Thanks Frank. I should add: that was at 115X w/OIII filter.
The "eyes" were still tough and required averted vision. Skies were "orange" zone/approx. NELM 5.3

Nice sketch - difficult one to do, and you have got it well.

Matt,

Good capture for your skies and instrument. It should take repeated attempts with averted vision to get the eyes in. I enjoy your sketch.

Thanks Phil and Jay. I've always loved watching those eyes come and go.

That's a very good sketch, much better than I can do right now.
