Very nice sketch Mariano!

This is the first galaxy that got my attention when I was a kid. Beautifully rendered in your sketch with the right "atmosphere"

Mariano,

A real treat to see your sketch of NGC 4565 here.
It is difficult to see this one with a 10" from an urban site. I dare say your location is transparent and away from city lights. Great capture - beautiful sketch.

Frank :)

Mariano,
This is a wonderful sketch. It really looks like the galaxy as seen in my scope. I will bet though, that if you will use a little more magnification ( something like 126x) you will see the dark lane using averted vision. Just a thought for next time.

Thank you all for your comments.
Frank, my location (Observatory Bonilla, Cuenca-Spain) is transparent and away from city lights.
BLB, I could not see the dark line with 155x..............Mariano Gibaja. Dibujo Astronómico

wwould you of happened to record the nelm at the time of this sketch????

I have been doing some experimenting with this galaxy and a few others to see what apeture, mag, conditions it takes to see the dust lanes in bright edge on galaxies

i have sketched this galaxy nmerous times with apertures from 6 to 20!!!!

with a 20'' from dark skies the view of this galaxy is breathtaking!!!!

i have seen the dust lane at 180x with a 10'' from my backyard!!! and with my new 16'' this galaxy looks amazing even in light pollted skies!!

amazing sketch though!!!! i would love to see some other of your sketches!!!!

Mariano, when I looked at your sketch it made me wonder how many beings are in that galaxy looking at us. Very nicely done!!!
