I have wanted to get into lunar sketching for some time now. I recently bought the Artists Guide to Sketching the moon and been waiting for clear skies. Since I have waited almost a whole lunar cycle, I took matters in my own hands and printed Eratosthenes from online and went to work. Using graphite 2B, 4B and 6B I drew this on regular printer paper. I used a toilet paper tube to look through as if it were the eyepiece (lame?). I have to say, for a first ever lunar sketch, I think it came out quite well.

Your first sketch is very impressive and shows a good 3D feeling. If you sketch for a longer time you will see and sketch more detauils at every session. I am looking forward to see your next sketches.

This is a promessing first sketch! Can't wait to see one you made at a real eyepiece

Mitaccio,

Very good crater sketch. It looks like you followed the directions that Rich Handy(that is Krater Kidd, here at Cloudy Nights) used in the introduction for practice sketching - Except for your way to make it more like a circular field - innovative. Everyone can sketch the Moonscape.
