Yuri only made 50 of these (I have one) and they are great little f/12 Maks. They are lightweight and the views are great.

Cost? I don't know what the exchange rate is, but I would not sell my TEC 6 for less than $2400 US dollars - and even that might not be enough to pry it from my hands. :)

Cheers,

Ron

They typically sell in the $2000-$2400 USD range.

I just paid $2600 for 50 of 50, this included a nice hard case( $450 new)
I felt it was worth the money, but have not put it thru it's paces yet( just got it a week or 2 ago)

Hi all
Thanks for getting back with the info. The number of the scope I'm looking at is 41. Could you tell what kind of finder scopes and dovetails you fitted to the ota.
Can you tell how good the views are for the mak. Thanks again

Mine has a vixen dovetail on it now, but you could put whatever you like, there are several 1/4-20 holes in the mounting base. There are two sets of finder base holes, mine came with an AstroPhysics base.
I have only used my scope one time to do a quick star test. I will let you how things look when I get some time on it.

Mine has a Losmandy dovetail, but you can easily install any type you wish.

I use A-P finder bases, but you can also fit the standard Synta finder shoes as well.

Cheers,

Ron

Yuri only made 50 of these

Someone should correct me on this, TEC produced 50 of these little cats starting at 2001, then recently while cleaning their storage closets Yuri came across a dozen optical sets completed and ready to go, so they offered some more TEC6’s priced about $2700, this was announced on tec-up, they sold out instantly.

Despite the initial announcement that some additional TEC 6's would be available I don't believe any of these scopes were actually made. I know someone who was in line to get one of the first ones and he was later told by Yuri that no scopes would be made, after all, due to other product priorities at TEC.

True.
I was on the list. Yuri at first said it would be about a year, then told me he has too much else going on and not to expect anything.

The SV50 will work great on the TEC 6.

The TEC 6 will not defy the laws of physics, but I can see everything through my little Mak that I would expect to see through a 6 inch scope. I am a double star and variable star person and this little scope works great for me.

I am sorry to hear that Yuri scrubbed his plans for more 6 inchers. When I talked to him last year, he said he wanted to make some more Maksutovs, but he wanted to do some 7 inchers next time around. I told him I would take one whenever he built them.

Cheers,

Ron

That's a beautiful scope, whose price jumped form $750 to $2900 almost over night. Wow...

Was gonna place a bit above $750 just to have one. But after viewing through my own 6" Mak and rechecking the price, well...
