Hi everyone,
I double post this q. in the ATM forum in a hope someone have an input... :)

My yet to be build big EQ mount with 11" Byers worm need a drive. Not much money I have....

So the options I have is to get an old(er) second-hand Gemini/L4 (need freedom of re-program worm ratio)with the ovoid gearbox.
Or a SciTech servo with Pitman/geared-motors. The SciTech need a computer to have go-to but that is ok, the scope will be permanently set-up.

The old Gemini have lots of support, and no bug (I think, but I have no experience)....
May be the Gemini motors are not as good as the Pitmans SciTech selling... :tonofbricks: don't know...

Any opinion about setting up or using for a ATM EQ mount greatly appreciated .

Regards,
Mick.

You need to go here for all things SiTech.

I replaced a Gemini 1 unit with a SiTech Controller One on my MI250. Controller 2 had USB connectivity. I got mine with the remote hand pad which is well worth the extra bucks. One thing to consider; Gemini is a stand alone controller...no laptop needed. SiTech requires a computer for Goto, platesovlve, etc. Since my mount is in an obs, SiTech is a much better alternative than Gemini. There's several guys that added Gurley encoders to their mounts and SiTech is set up to handle the encoders.

It's a generic system that works with a lot of different mounting situations, including dobs. There's a wealth of information on the Yahoo group. And the guys there are very helpful.
