SiTech for a ATM EQ mount
Posted 17 August 2012 - 03:03 PM
I double post this q. in the ATM forum in a hope someone have an input...
My yet to be build big EQ mount with 11" Byers worm need a drive. Not much money I have....
So the options I have is to get an old(er) second-hand Gemini/L4 (need freedom of re-program worm ratio)with the ovoid gearbox.
Or a SciTech servo with Pitman/geared-motors. The SciTech need a computer to have go-to but that is ok, the scope will be permanently set-up.
The old Gemini have lots of support, and no bug (I think, but I have no experience)....
May be the Gemini motors are not as good as the Pitmans SciTech selling... don't know...
Any opinion about setting up or using for a ATM EQ mount greatly appreciated .

It's a generic system that works with a lot of different mounting situations, including dobs. There's a wealth of information on the Yahoo group. And the guys there are very helpful.
