Last one. I was experimenting...I tried screwing the nose piece from the CCD camera right onto the end of the Brandon 24mm. It works, but you only get a couple of threads in before it stops.

You're doing great work Terry considering your location.

Thanks Les! It's touch and go. Some nights are definitely better than others. I've noticed that I seem to get better pictures when I use all extension tubes and a diagonal connected to the axial port. Plus another short extension at the eyepiece. I have to take a ridiculous number of frames to get a useful image. Sometimes upward of 15000. Registax locks up frequently and I have to start all over again.

For pics of Jupiter, that is.
For the Moon, usually 500 or so, then whittled down in Registax.

I took this one this morning. From my window (clouds were threatening). Extension tubes, no barlow.

I think that one was approx 400 frames stacked at 7.5 fps.

One more. A bit larger, but no additional detail.

I'm just not getting the detail. I'm going to try from a different location this weekend, weather permitting.

Another attempt from last night. Barlow and one short extension tube. Usual setup, pointed out the window.

Last attempt at processing pic from 30 Sep. Not sure if it's any better really.

This one is kind of ratty looking. Seeing not good at all and compounded by imaging from a window.

Barry,

First off, I really like your web page and philosophy. I go to it often. I use a Q50 on a tri-stand, and utilize a Basler acA640-100gc camera. All of my pictures are from simply pointing the scope out an open window. I'm in the city and getting away is not always easy. Hopefully in a few months I'll be moving out to the country where the skies are dark and I have more time.

Even though it's on the edge of the field of view, this one came out really well, all things considered.

Sorry for hogging the space. Just wanted to put one more up. I backed off the processing a bit to keep the noise down.

Here's another I took tonight. Shooting out the window once more. The usual... The red spot has rotated around the bend.

Installed an azimuth brake yesterday on the little Q yesterday and tried out an SLR with expired Kodak Gold.

Nice image! I've tried coupling a Sony nex 5N to the scope, but haven't been successful yet. I'm certainly doing something wrong. Will keep at it.
