I purchased a used Lxd55 mount. When it arrived, the top of one of the tripod legs was broken. I put hose clamps around it to hold it in place but would like to have the right part. Does anyone have a Lxd55 tripod only for sale or know ehre I can get one? I only need one tripod leg and specifically, the top part of the tripod leg that the mount connects to. I have checked cloudy nights classified and astromart but there are no Lxd55 tripods for sale. Thanks.

I "inherited" a used Celestron CG-5 mount for my LXD-55. The addition of one hex-head bolt on the north part of the plate makes for a VERY solid mount, much better than the original.

So a CG-5 tripod will fit an Lxd55 mount?

It sure did for me, James. And moving up to the 2" legs from the cheesy aluminum ones on the Meade mount made for a HUGE improvement in stability. And it looks cooler, too!

Did you look at all the used stuff at Hands On or Astro Parts Outlet?
