It looks like I will be totally revamping what I am looking for in a grab and go and about to pull the trigger for a Discmount DM4. Like many, I cringe at what it will do to my wallet, but I think buy once and hopefully have it for a very long time. Unfortunately, I will have to piece together the mount, tripod and eventually a DSC solution. That said, in the interest of saving at least a bit of money, how hard is it to install the encoders into the DM4 at a later time? If anyone has some experience, would love to hear from you. If it is something I should pony up for, I wil cringe again and just do it.

Your best bet by far is to call and talk to Tom Peters at Discmount. He will give you honest advice. Chuck (DM-4/Sky Commander owner).
