Hello fellow sketchers,

Let me add just another Hergenrother sketch from the night of October 08-09. The conditions were less than favorable, a thin layer of clouds were covering the whole sky, sometimes hiding Alpha and Beta Herculis from naked eye view.

With averted vision I was able to spot some details in the tail, namely three brighter filaments: the Western border was the longest, the Eastern the shortest and in between I could see a cone-shaped area. The comet's core was elongated by about a factor of 1:2 to the NS direction.

Telescope: 12" Newt, 167x magnification
SQM: 21.06 MPSAS, 5°C, low humidity, slight breeze
Seeing: 4/10 (bad), transparency: 2/5 (bad)

Dear All, thanks a lot for your kind words! I was sceptical myself about the details, but a day after my observation somewhere I've seen a picture made by a 60cm scope, that also displayed the details I've seen. I still want to do a verification, but no luck with the weather since then. :(
