Is that NGC 7479 in Pegasus for your sig pic? Great galaxy, saw the arms fainty on a near perfect night in August this year.

Viewed this SN last night under mediocre skies and it was easy in a 16 inch at 150X. There is a nearby foreground star that is about 1.5 magnitudes fainter. I am hoping that by this weekend I will have some decent skies and will report again if I get a peek.

In this area I counted some 30 galaxies in the Fornax galaxy cluster and its vicinity. Incidentally, I had a look at NGC1365 with my Canon 18x50 IS binoculars on Oct. 25, just two days before SN2012fr exploded! It was my 5th supernova this year.

Clouds part! Clouds part! Grrrr, we are supposed to have more than 300 clera nights a year, why all the cloudy ones have to happen around new moon and when ther is a supernova easily observable from 34N????
Clouds did partially part. In between clouds, and just above a line of distant thunderstorms lining up on the Lebanese coast 120 miles away full of lightning, I managed to get a glimpse of NGC 1365 and sn2012fr last night. The continuous ligtning was not helpful in allowing any details to be seen in NGC1365, but I could see the SN which appeared brighter than the other superimposed stars on the galaxy. If weather allows we will have another go on Thursday or Friday..

The supernova SN2012fr has brightened to magnitude 11.9 (Nov. 11.59 UT). With my 10-inch Dob, I could discern the long, beautiful spiral arms of NGC1365.
Hi Timo, I guess that was not from Sweden, right???
