With our AG Optical Systems Imaging Dall Kirkham and Newtonian astrograph scopes well on their way, we are looking at what new products we can add to our line-up of premium imaging telescopes.

We are building a custom 12.5" Dall Kirkham designed for planetary/high-resolution imaging. This scope has a focal ratio of F16, enough back focus to accommodate binoviewers, a central obstruction under 28%, and will have Zerodur optics (figured by a master optician and tested as a system). The tube is a flocked, carbon fiber composite honeycomb core tube that is incredibly rigid yet lightweight while offering excellent thermal stability. The focuser can be a Moonlight, Feathertouch or other quality, motorized unit. Pricing will be in the $9500 range and availability is running at 3 months. I have access to only two sets of Zerodur blanks that enable the aggressive pricing for a top quality 12.5" scope with Zerodur optics. Please contact AG Optical Systems if you are interested. Beyond these two scopes, is there interest in a premium F12-ish (or thereabouts) DK type scope optimized for high-resolution imaging?

AG Optical Systems is also considering introducing a fast F3.8 Cassegrain-type astrograph. This astrograph offers a compact form (under 30" length including the dew shield for the 12.5" model), carbon fiber composite honeycomb core tube, approximately 6" back focus, CNC-machined 6061 aluminum parts, FLI Atlas focuser, and outstanding AG Optical Systems customer service for our 100% made-in-the-USA product. :usa: We are considering offering 10", 12.5", and 16" versions. Exact pricing has not been determined but it will be comparable to pricing for same aperture high-end Newtonian astrographs.

We have several other interesting projects underway including development of an extremely robust, low profile, digital focuser and a top quality, 150 lbs capacity class mount that includes as standard very high resolution RA and dec encoders that enable outstanding tracking performance.

When it comes to listening to our customers, we don't do this :lalalala:, this :flame:, or this :sleepy:. So, give us your feedback, comments, and suggestions as to what type of telescope, mount, focuser, etc. you would like to see added to the AG Optical Systems product line-up.

Thanks!

Dave Tandy
