Just bought a 80/9D in excellent shape but don't have a clue for a mount.I have a nikon 5100 camera and somewhere in the future I might like to try astro pics.
is the porta mount with setting circles ok or should I look for something else.
thanks

The porta mount should be ok with that OTA. At under 6 pounds a CG5 GT would be nice if you want goto capabilities and some astrophotography.

Well I called a well known advertizer and a woman answered and I told her I had the stellarvue 80/9D and was wondering about black friday deals-like on a televue mount and tripod. She put me on hold for about ten minutes and came back with a recommendation of a G-11 and I just said are you kidding-this is an 80mm scope.
OH well.
I don't think she knew what a Stellarvue 80/9D was.
She said she called the wharehouse and that is what they recommended.
