I was out shopping with wife and kid today at the mall and saw a deal for these binoculars

Simmons ProSport 12x 50mm Roof-Prism Waterproof/Fogproof Binoculars

I bought them for $35 since they seemed very well constructed. I looked them up before I bought them and only reviews I found were Amazon but no mention of usage for astronomy. Amazon sells them for much more than what I paid. Does anybody know if they will do well for astronomical purposes?

at 50mm they should do fairly well as long as the optics are good. my only experience with Simmons was a cheap rifle scope and it worked well enough for the price.

They'll work just fine.

Thanks for the info. I won't be able to get out tonight and try them but I will describe my results as soon as I get to it.
