Ridiculously high magnification on the Moon

Mike, I don't know, as I've not yet had either a clear or calm night since then to try it again at that magnification. It's either been too windy (it's a rather long tube!), or the clouds haven't been cooperative. It's certainly possible - even likely - that I'm not seeing any more detail.

I don't expect to be able to repeat the 550x often, for sure. It was just something fun to do that night, and we were fortunate that the atmosphere at the time supported it. In any case, the scope needs more work done on it anyway - a fan needs to be added, the interior needs to be darkened to avoid the waxy interior, and a number of other improvements.

I'll certainly report back if I get the chance to try 550x again, and what, if any, difference(s) in detail I can perceive.
