Bronze bearing lubrication?

In short - I have massive stiction on my declination axis which runs on a bronze bearing/bushing.

Suggestions for lubrication?

Superlube synthetic grease. what mount?

I would try the recommended Lubriplate 105. It can be purchased at many auto parts stores, or online.

Make sure that all the metal to metal surfaces are as smooth and highly polished as possible. As always, a very thin coating of lube only (put the lube on, put it together and turn it around, take it apart and wipe the lube off one of the two pieces, put it back together again). This will help regardless of what lube you use.

Not familiar with the mount, but am with bearings. If they are sintered bronze, They have been impregnated with lubricant during manufacture. Any additional oils, etc, usually do more harm than good. If they are simply solid bronze bushings, then a light oil is best- and as suggested above, inspect the mating surfaces to make sure they are absolutely smooth and free of scratches, etc.

since AP recommends lubriplate on them, i'd assume they are not sintered..

While I have not seen these, I suspect that they are machined, not sintered metal (probably brass).

I saw the pictures in the your other thread when you first posted. Basically, if it is a bright gold color, then it is most likely machined brass. The best thing is work work on the fit and finish. You have to be careful, but these should just fit together smoothly without any lube and once lubed, they will tighten up a little bit.

If you ever buy a used scope from the states, you can have it shipped to me first.

As for the brass clean with warm soap and water then polish it with metal polish not car wax. The Teflon rings glide better with nothing on then. Wash them in warm soap and water then spray with Turtle Wax Express Shine and wipe dry. Clean and do the same to the surfaces they contact. Slip sliding away.
