We had a particularly steady sky and good transparency on this April night this past spring. The 26 inch reflector was put to use for this shot of M 101 at f/5.4. Nine subs of 5 minutes each were combined showing some detail in M 101 that it seems is hard to come by here in Alaska due to all the usual turbulence. The faint misty parts stand out much more clearly in the greater contrast of a nice dark sky.
