Just received my new Sky Guy Porta II mount with the wooden legs and there is a small threaded, metal part that looks like it mounts to the center hole in the wooden tray. Above the threaded part, there is an elongated cuboid with rounded edges about 1" long.

Can't for the life of me figure out what this is for??

Of course there are no instructions with the mount.

Any help?

Thanks,
Jim

No idea. There is a similar piece on my CG5GT that the azimuth adjustment screws bear against. Is it possible it was supplied by mistake?

Looks like an azimuth post for the tripod base.

Could be, I just thought of the same thing as I have a GG-5 too.

It is the azimuth peg for the top of the tripod when using an EQ head.
