Canon 350D Giga Mod

The idea is to strip the camera of all non-essentials (display at the back, prism, flash, program selector, ALL), put it into a box and cool it. The motherboard behind the sensor will be moved aside so I can place the Peltier cooling straight on top of the chip and cool it directly.
The chip is connected to the motherboard via two FFC ribbons. The gauge for the chip is 1mm and for the board connector is 0.5mm. I got in touch with a specialist that is willing to de-solder the ribbon and then solder wired on the chip and on the board. After mapping the connections, I will make the final joints and expose the chip for direct cooling.
Until now, I've managed the stripping part of the project and maybe tomorrow I'll add some pictures with the camera in its current state.
This week I will send it, and hopefully get it back from the electronics shop with wires sticking out.
I'll keep you posted.

somebody on the UK stargazerslounge forum did it - basically fine polishing compound, a felt wheel on a Dremel. they had to pry off the glass cover on the sensor and take the felt wheel to the sensor surface itself...
