I would like to draw your attention to a recent upgrade to astrotips.com, a site I have been keeping since 1999 with the goal of building the most complete directory of software useful for amateur astronomical observation.

Currently listing 701 programs, most available as free downloads, a number of features are offered so as to assist the process of finding the right tool for the job. Namely:

a) Each software is classified under a number of categories of purpose, operating system it runs on, languages it is translated in and a few descriptive tags/keywords. Listings can be obtained accordingly and navigated from the main menu (under “Downloads”). And from here: http://astrotips.com/sitemap

B) An advanced search function is available allowing one to combine multiple criteria and keywords so as to find the most appropriate applications:
http://astrotips.com/software-filter

c) An alphabetically ordered listing of all software can be seen in a single page:
http://astrotips.com/list-all-entries

d) One can browse a gallery of screenshots (assuming the simple grasping of the images may lead to the discovery of a new application)
http://astrotips.com/gallery

e) All sorts of RSS feeds are available.

f) Partial integration with Social Network Sites has been achieved and is being improved.

Finally and most important, anyone can add new content or update/improve the information supplied for current entries:

Please take a few minutes to add missing applications you may be aware of.

Thanks!

Congratulations on your upgrade! I have known your site for several years. If not already known by many here, I believe Cloudy Night members will find your site very useful. Thank you for the dedicated work of so many years.

It was through your website that I found Christian Buil's freeware iris. I really needed that program!
