Looking for a cap on the observing end of a 7mm Pentax XW. Anyone direct me to a good replacement that is snug?

These 2" rubber end caps are perfect for the eyepiece end of the XWs, they fit nice n snug.

If you just need a replacement, Pentax will send you one free. They basicly put you on a list. It took 3-4 months to get mine.

That's good to know; even if it does take awhile to get one.

That's even better news! I'll try that route first as I have a cap for it but it is very loose (never came with the original cap from a retailer.

Well I have to report that I contacted Pentax via the website and my email was sent to the regional support in Denver. On December 12th, 2012 Pentax from Denver sent me a new cap for my Pentax XW 7mm. Now I don't have the worry that the original sellar left for me (a vendor here) by putting on a cap that wasn't the original when the sold me the eyepiece. Great response (they kept me in the loop via email) and great service in support of their product.

Who was the vendor that sold the XW sans cap?

As far as the 1.25" end cap, these are pretty generic and I'd not worry I had a "replacement" cap (black end caps are black end caps, you have a wide choice of harder or softer material only). However, the TOP cap (Where eyelens meets eye), if you lose it, you'll have to go to Pentax......

If you have a Pentax XL, the top cap from a film can, (The white one), fits perfectly as long as the eye cup is not fully in the "down" position.

Cheers,
