Decided to go with an Orion ED80T CF for my first telescope. I am pretty excited.

Hopefully it will arrive before the wife gets back from New York next week. She would kill me if she knew how much money I just spent.

I do appreciate the advice and help you guys gave me. I have so much to learn. I am afraid to look at accessories...

Lol. Dude, that's just the beginning :) but it's all good. It's a wonderful hobby/obsession. Welcome to the madness.

If the wife's gonna "kill you" just over the scope, just wait...

Enjoy, I absolutely love mine! I buy scopes, my wife buys clothes. I don't kill her, she doesn't kill me! Of course I'll work until I drop dead sitting at the scope, but it will be with a smile on my face!

I've read a saying here along thelines of "It's easier to ask forgiveness than ask for permission"... or something like that ?

Another ED80T-CF fan here, sounds like a nice Chrismas present - that and the mount! congratulations :)

Thanks. Its been cloudy and rainy here the last three days. Hopefully it clears up when everything arrives. There is a local park here that hosts a star view one sat day a month. Hopefully Ill be ready for the next one in early Jan.

Well you can 4-get about "get'n any" for say...the next 10 years or more :smirk:

Since you're at that stage, might as well go for the gusto..a pier and roll off observatory... :)

Hope you already have a mount or she will really flip. Also hope your life insurance policy is up to date for when you start getting those "needed" accessories like a full spectrum mod for the camera, a light pollution filter, a Ha filter, ac adapter for the camera, USB cables, image processing software, and then start slipping in parts for the permanent pier you'll hide in the backyard when you are imaging there...
