I am trying to download Sky and Telescope to my IPAD's hard drive. The downloads work ONLY when I am connected to the internet.

I am a print subscriber.

Can somebody post instructions is SLOW and CLEAR English on how to do this??

Thanks.....

As far as I know, you can't download issues of S&T to your iPad (or to anything else) to be read offline.

Really stupid system, IMHO. Magazine publishers do not get the digital thing AT ALL.

Yes, you can. I finally managed to do that!

However, the Feb. issue will only download to about page 22.

You are right Apple management of files on the IPAD is stupid. At home with 100 mbps Internet it is a non-issue. Traveling in rural Mexico and California has been a nightmare with the IPAD.

I guess we are lucky that our home county has fiber optics lines for most of the residents, so I never noticed the issue at home.

I thought they had a PDF version. I have to use the computer since I use Android, and they don't have Android software yet.

Ran into the same issue with downloading the PDF file on the IPAD.

I believe the option for the PDF version came up on the Sky and telescope site.

BTW....clear instructions would still be welcomed. Somehow I managed together the Sky and Telescope site to accept my subscription.

Then my daughter managed to get the issue downloaded. So I got it to work, but am totally unsure as to how!!!!

OK, thanks. I guess I can't get to that area of the web site yet -- I only subscribed a few weeks ago, and I don't have an account number yet. :/

I'm a subscriber to the digital version of S&T, when I receive notification of a new issue I have the option to download a copy in PDF format for offline reading. I can read that on any device that has an ereader, laptop, my Nexus 7, etc.
It may be that the PDF version is only available to digital subscribers.
Cheers
Chris

Hmm. The confirmation email I got from S&T when I subscribed to the print edition said that I got free access to the digital edition also. Still haven't received my first issue, and trying to look up my subscriber number through their web site failed.

How long has it been since you subscribed? As I recall, it takes S & T subscription processing 7 to 8 weeks until you get the first issue. S & T is quite slow to respond...

I just downloaded the PDF as soon as I was notified. I have to use that as I have an Android phone and tablet. Downloaded on the computer, then put the PDF in Dropbox. Now have it on all devices.

About 3 or 4 weeks, I think. On a side note, I find it kind of amazing that in this day and age, it takes so long to process a subscription request!

"However, the Feb. issue will only download to about page 22."

I had that problem at home. I took my iPhone to work on a faster internet connection and I was able to download the entire issue. At home I would get to page 22 and then page 23 was blank with the little spinning download thingie.
Thanks,
Tim
