The D100 is a really old model.
It looks like D50 & D70S were much more popular for AP use.
I have a D80 and am very happy with it.

Check the web for AP reviews of this model.

Everyone feels Canon is better suited to AP and is much more supported with software for camera control from PC.

Either way the newer the less noise and amp glow you will experience.

I agree with Skywolf. I don't know what you are paying for it or what your intended uses are - other than AP. You can certainly use it for AP but there are many better choices - both Nikon and Canon.

While its true that Canon is more popular for AP and there is more software written for it, Nikon have recently made significant advances with their cameras and there is now software available for camera control for most Nikons. Also, I believe a version of BackyardEOS is being developed for Nikons. So, if you already have Nikon Glass you shouldn't feel you have to move to Canon for AP.

The guy I might buy it from hasn't really set a price. I have seen them used and in very good shape for around $200. His looked well broke in. Not sure he even has a lens for it. So maybe body only,256mb memory card he wasn't even sure the battery was still good. He kept saying well I paid 1600 for it. The more I'm hearing The more my offer is coming down. 50 to 100 depending on what he can find for it. If at all. My wife is getting tiered of the camera game. Maybe I'll save my pennies for a newer Canon.

that's really old. and noisy-ish. i think a canon 350D or 400D would perform better.

note: KEH has a nikon D100 body for $126. BGN condition, but KEH is quite conservative. and they will give you a warranty.

you can get a Rebel XT from KEH for $126 and a Rebel XTI for $149. And an XSI for $275.

i would go for the XSI... because it has Live View, which is pretty useful when focusing.

Think I'll hold off on the Nikon.
