How does it compare to the Pentax PCF WII and Nikon AE of the same size?

The UltraView is listed as having 22mm eye relief, so they're probably a good choice if you wear glasses.

Now I'm thinking I overpaid for the Vista (6.5°) relative to what I could have gotten with an UltraView (8.2°). I just found a thread in which EdZ said that the Vista has significant field curvature at the outer 30-40%. I assumed the Vista had a smaller FOV for the sake of less field curvature, but 30-40% on an 8x42 6.5° seems pretty excessive. For $60 less, the UltraView might be the better deal.

This model made all the cheap Nikons seem poor.

Of the various models in my January buying spree, the Orion UltraView 8x42s (and probably a Minox BD 8x44 BP on the way) are the only ones I plan to keep. The Vixen 9x63 and Orion 25x100 are going back. I have already described my experience with the former in the thread Vixen Geoma ZCF 9x63--A few tests. Sometime in the next week, I will post my experience with the 25x100s.
Live and learn.
