I'm a beginner astrophotographer living in New Jersey. I've been observing for about a year and a half and have been imaging for about 6 months. I just thought I'd share a few of my images so that everyone can see where I'm coming from. Some of you might recognize these from the Astronomy Forums.

As you can tell, I've mostly been doing nightscapes since my telescope is alt/az and not capable of much. But I do plan to replace it with a properly configured refractor soon!

First off is M42, imaged in December 2012:

Hi Dan and welcome to CN. Your images look very nice. If you are planning to upgrade you may want someone to hide your wallet!

Seriously.... :step:

There's lots of good knowledgable people here to help or just admire your images and you're off to a good start.

Thanks Terry! I love your images as well. Hopefully I'll have a good starting setup by the summertime. Can't wait to start with some serious deep-sky imaging!

Welcome Dan.

That's quite an introduction, with those images.

I really like the Big Dipper image as well.

Good luck.

Dan - great images and welcome to the forum here :) I like the user name you made, what we are all about here.

Folks here are doing great work with modest priced gear and their resolve and ingenuity, and I include the images you post by saying that. I think I do recognize some of those images, haven't been to that other site in many moons.
