Folks,

I've ordered the subject OTA to ride on my CG5 for lunar/planetary imaging. What do any of you users/owners of the scope recommend for accessories? I'm already looking for a motorized focuser without much success. I will initially be using a Neximage 5 and Canon XSi for imaging and have all the adapters required for attaching them to a C8, so they should also serve for the Orion.

Thanks for any comments and suggestions!

A Vixen side by side mount...I'm curious to see what differences you notice between the new 7" Mak and the 35 year old C8.

A 24mm panoptic, a dew shield, and a 2" 2 speed GSO focuser were the best add-ons to my 150mm Mak. The focuser on the Orion Maks are very smooth, but image shift at high powers is annoying. The panoptic never stays in the case for too long no matter what scope I have out.

Hi,

IMHO a crayford would be perfect!
In order to mount check here

Then also a stepper motor to fine focus would be great,
myself I bought a phidget stepper controller, wrote
the program and built the thing onto the moonlight.
It makes life easier!

Bob, I have an Orion alt-az that might be able to hold both, but not for imaging. It's a comparison I plan to make.
I do have a William Optics Crayford focuser I might try to mate to it.

Mert, Scopestuff is one of my favorite vendors! This phidget thing sounds interesting, I should look into it.

Thanks for the comments!

Hi Richard,

I was looking for some images I had of the Moonlight
with the stepper motor on top but don't have it any
more, laptop crashed that's why.
If you need help on this don't hesitate to drop me
a PM.
I can send you the program as well if needed.
