I saw that. The price is right but it's not clear what it was designed for and it would take an expensive observatory just to house it. I live in San Diego and have bought quite a few scopes from Craigslist but that one didn't seem like my kind of scope.

Otherwise, for sure. ;)

That telescope was originally made for the USAF for satellite tracking, and was
at Cloudcroft Observatory in NM. It was later transferred to NASA.

I have secured a similar telescope for my private observatory on my private land. The building will be done in about 4 more months prior to delivery.

I just woke up and realized I was dreaming. Sorry.

"NASA SPACE TELESCOPE FOR SALE / BUILT FOR NASA TO NASA SPECIFICATIONS "

If they could have mentioned NASA a couple more times, I would have certainly added it to my cart. I'm just not certain enough that NASA was involved, so I'll hold off on purchasing it.

I actually got to go inside that Cloudcroft Observatory well after this 48" telescope was removed from it. For a while, this same enclosure housed a 3-meter liquid mirror telescope that was dwarfed by the creaky old building.

I'll just put it on tracks and roll the scope out from my 20x60 storage barn .

The $1 price is in my means although the shipping and handling fees are a bit worrisome.

Expect first light on the 12th of Never.

You can tell by the many typos and poor/incorrect grammer that this is legit. Better hurry because they have a lot of interested parties, so they say...

If it's a scam, are they hoping to defraud a ton of people out of $1 each? I would think that there are more effective ways to get cash.

I have seen the same scope being offered for 5 million all the same information - I suspect it is an email harvesting scam

Sure, and a lightly-used Celestron power tank as well...

sorry that I arrived here too late to buy,
but
I would have wanted delivery and setup
included in the price
I am too lazy, too cheap, to do it myself

Chris (CJK)

I will give you $5 if you deliver and set up in my yard
