I've been reading about the ATCC and feel like it would do just as well as a paracorr 1, unless somebody knows about aberrations or optical issues with the ATCC. The only issue i have with it is the non-tunable top. I have this idea, attach this in place of the stock 2 inch ep holder

https://www.teleskop...TS-2--variab...

with that installed i could, in theory, prime focus the ATCC and lock my focuser. doing this would allow me to focus using only the helical focuser... sort of like a SIPS. does anybody see any issues with this?

Maybe. After cost, you might not be saving anything than just buying a paracorr though.

paracorr type 2 = 520 USD
atcc with helical focuser = 215 USD
paracorr type 1(doesn't work with my ep's correctly) = 288 USD with top and new, 200 used.
