Very cool they installed that hoop on the outside wing for when folks get bored in space...

Our club, the Brevard Astronomical Society was invited by NASA to set up solar scopes at the Shuttle Atlantis final rollover when they moved her to a permanent location at the Space Center Visitor area on 10/02/2012. She will be in a hangar suspended on an angle with the bay doors open and the boom extended. It was a perfect day when we did this event, not a cloud in the sky and mild temps. There was a crowd of about 10,000 and we had eight scopes for observation. It was a thrill to be that close to a Shuttle and it was one of the best events our club has ever had.

All our scopes as the Shuttle Atlantis just arrived. We had lines for six and a half hours except for when the Shuttle was first parked.
