Polar Alignment slew changes every so often?

After I set in home position and adjust mount in polar mode I noticed that when I start my polar alignment under one star or two star alignment...the scope will move in RA 90 degrees and then ask to center Polaris and other times it moves only 45 degrees which makes it a bit harder to look in EP. anyone else come across this? is this normal or am I missing something? Thanks

My classic 200 LX does the same thing. I asked this question in another Yahoo group (LX200-Classic) and was told that it depends on date, time,
Date and time, anyway (location doesn't affect it). This is because Polaris describes a circle around the NCP once every 24 hours (close to it, anyway). It's a slowly moving target.
