Just had a play with some of the beautiful images available from the SDO site . . ( http://sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov/data/ )

A quick animation of 217 hourly shots covering the development and changes in the major active region between the 8th and 18th of January 2013.

Best viewed in HD and fullscreen.

Wow during these days, the sun was really peppered with spots was it not?

Lovely!

He certainly was ,

I wouldn't normally use the SDO data , but it was a very active week that I felt deserved to be seen ..

Just miffed that I only caught a couple of days of it myself.
