Years back, I purchased a 24" primary and the secondary holder/focuser/spider assembly.

By tracing its origins, I found that it was originlly housed in this observatory http://urbexbarrie.b...bservatory.html, built in 1976 for one Heinz Lorenz.

After his death, some of the parts were donated to various groups with the hope they would find some use.

Sort of sad that the place only got some 20 years of use out of it before being allowed to slide into dereliction

That is indeed sad, that such a beautiful observatory is going to ruin. :(

Mr. Lorenz generously donated a 12" cassegrain to my club (North York Astronomy Association) perhaps 10 - 15 years ago. It was mounted for some time at our club's dark sky observatory site 120km east of Toronto. It has been taken down, replaced by more modern and compact equipment and is in storage at this time. Our club observatory has been called the Lorenz Observatory for as long as I can remember...

If you read the comments on the site - it appears it was torn down last summer. Sad..

Was it still around when Google Earth might have taken a frame of it?

No idea where it is, and Ontario is too large to search.
