After recording mag 16 Comet ISON last night [3rd time!] I scanned Megastar for DSOs in the area and came across faint PN KOH3-71 =PNG 184.8+4.4 as recorded below. Probably a longshot but any obs via big scopes  Megastar says m[p]18.1 and [almost stellar] 3.1" diam

The nearly stellar part of K 3-71 is not a problem as you can always "blink" the planetary to confirm, but the Guide Star Catalogue (version 2.3) gives a V mag of 18.45, which if true is probably a monster dob target only. In any case, congrats on capturing it -- your image is indeed centered on the object

Many thanks Steve for your input - I was hoping you would jump in here - much appeciated  When I targetted this object via Megastar I didn't note its size or mag and was initially disappointed that 'nothing was there' until a later check via Sloan DSS. My deeper + enlarged crop below. As you say it's a Monster Dob Object ;)
