Question purchasing RCX400

scope is fine except for a problem with the declanation system which
occassionally manifests itself. She says that "Declination axis might require
occasional adjustment." The problem caused the scope to shift from side to side
between the fork arms. When this happens, the scope makes a thumping sound.
She says that the problem is a result of the fork arms getting out of adjustment
so that they are too far apart. That gives the OTA some room to move, and when
the scope turns to a certain place in the sky, the OTA shifts a little. She
says that the RCX400 has a simple screw type of adjustment that allows the
spacing to be changed and when you take off the side on one of the fork arms,
turn the screw until it is snug, and then close the scope up.
What do people think. Does this sound like a big problem or something I can
live with? Am I better off with an LX200 or the same size? Thanks!!!

Seriously, parts and support are difficult to come by for that telescope.
Good luck, Chris

RCX400 were some of the best scopes produced, Meade's 20" top of the line scope is still an RCX400-says something.
