The 4 se, the c-90 and the Meade ETX all need an adapter to accept an SCT thread. AFAIK the ETX and 4 SE have the same threads so this Meade adapter should fit

Nice M42!

I was sorry to read your message that the Meade adapter didn't fit. Baader makes an adapter that might do. AgenaAstro carries them.

This thread might explain the problem

Hi Robert,

Pehaps take a look at the "same subject" thread above by "ItsMeTony" ? Maybe it also helps ?

BTW. A very nice first attempt at M42 !:bow:

I hope you don't mind but I took a look at it for any still hidden detail and came up with this rendition from a little Photoshop tweaking. As you can see, there was indeed some unseen, useable data which I hope the attached demonstrates.

Best regards,
Tel

The rear port on the 4, 6, 8 and 9.25 SCTs is 2" 24TPI. The external accessory thread on the eyepiece holder for most of these scopes is 1.38" * 24TPI.

This is very close to the 1.375" * 24TPI thread on the ETX, but is very slightly larger. In most cases, accessories for each, will fit the other, provided they are slightly sloppy on the Meade fitting. T^he safest course is to find a Celestron LAR 1.38" * 24TPI to 2" 24TPI.
