Hi, Someone here in the UK has a #494 handset that from what is described has gone to a handset test state.

They are asked to press each key in turn:
enter,mode,goto,north,south,east,west,scroll up,speed,scroll down.

After which they get:
autostar test done.

Problem is that the handset appears to have gone into that state, but does not drop out of it after the buttons are pressed.

Has anyone any ideas how to get out of this mode?

Seems that leaving it unplugged has no effect.

Could it have gone into a download state?
One message that occasionally appears implies that it may have.
If so any idea how to exit that without causing problems.

Scope is one of the DS2114's, the autostar is the #494 so this appeared the best location for the question.

According to manual, you should be able to do a reset And then need to reinitialize. Don't know if this will help. See the one for the DS-114.

From what has been described the handset sits at the test done stage and does not return to the normal menu structure. Pressing Mode does not do anything.

So cannot use the handset to get to the Reset option.

Ultimately that appears to be the problem, cannot get out of this test done state to the usual menu.

Thing is it is not mine so can only pass on what I have been told and think I understand.

Actually cannot find anything myself about this test, hoping someone may be able to say at completion you press X, Y, Z or whatever and it exits.

Check to make sure one of the buttons isn't stuck down.

Also double-check the cable ends for damage.
