Leo trio with 350D
Posted 09 February 2013 - 05:36 PM
This time I aimed at the Leo trio with the 200 mm f/4 newt. and TEC cooled 350D, I had some frost problems on the sensor and this shows a bit on the brighter star but I'm happy with this image, I have to take more time on this target as the tidal tail on NGC 3628 is just starting to show.
The image has no noise reduction whatsoever
Setup used: 200mm f/4 newt, Baader MPCC, Canon 350D with TEC cooler (cold finger), EQ6 autoguided with GPUSB and 50 mm finder, stack of 8x10 min. @ 400 ISO

Brent, glad you brought that up, I always process my images carefuly zomming in and out, trying to mantain a balance between detail and processing artifacts, on many images you see that they look great at small resolution but when you see the full size version it's a disaster...
Too bad I dindn't go for longer on this one as I was itching to go for another object, I'll post it here latter
BTW, what's your opinion on upgrading from my beloved 350D to a 1100D? I'm a bit tired of so many cables and beeing able to focus with live view seems a definite plus, if I could get one 1100D cheap I'll modify it with also a TEC cooler and remove the filter and I think it would be a great camera for this kind of work, so what do you think?
Thanks in advance for your input
