I thought I would share a couple of sites I have begun to rely upon: if you want to know where that pesky jet stream is, http://www.intellicast.com/National/Wind/JetStream.aspx will do it for you. It will also showy your local winds to some degree. 
The second is from our friends at the US Naval Observatory, http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/mrst.php.  It will will tell you the rise-set-transit times for the planets, moon, and many of the major DSOs.

Awesome thanks. I don't know what it showed for yesterday over the northeast US but I'm pretty sure it was right over me ;)
