CG5 polar scope question

So this may sound like a dumb question, but when you are looking through the polar scope how can you illuminate it so you can see the etchings?

The only way I know of is to use it before it gets totally dark out.

By pointing a red flashlight down the front end. It's a real PITA.

I made one of these and it worked very well in the old days when I used a polar scope.
