I have had a chance to read more and more sections of this book on telescope optics by Smith, Ceragioli, and Berry over the past few days.

The writing is superb and lucid and aimed at amateurs so the material is understandable. In the introduction they layout the book chapters as different rooms in a museum of telescopes and optical designs - its nicely done and well organized.

The brief historical sections and bibliography are also world class. The authors put a lot of work in this tome, it was obviously a labor of love. Its one of the very best books in my library...
