Please do not make posts about astronomical events that have already taken place in this section of Cloudy Nights. Furthermore, discussions of upcoming events are not permitted here.

Welcome to Celestial Events, a bulletin board for announcements about currently or soon to be observable astronomical events. Need a finder chart for that bright comet? Want to know when the next meteor shower will peak? Looking for suggestions on what to observe? Visit regularly for answers to all your questions about what's happening now in the celestial show. If folks want to discuss these events, the staff of Cloudy Nights invites you to start or join a thread in the appropriate observing forum. Celestial Events is for announcements only.

Posts in Celestial Events announce special events, such as new comets, major outbursts of variable stars, bright (super)novae etc. Once submitted to the forum, we try to check the event and once OK, the post gets approved and becomes visible.

Announcements of upcoming astronomy club events and star parties should be posted in the Astronomy Cubs and Star Parties section.

Please do not violate the Cloudy Nights TOS by posting material lifted verbatim from another web site.
