That little endcut looks familiar. ;)

That one came straight from the finder who lives in Chile and is a friend of mine. He found it himself in the Atacama. You can hardly get more direct than that. :)

This is an exciting time for space rocks - Black Beauty Martians and Russian Exploding Fireballs! :bigshock:

Where did you get it from, Carol, if I may ask please? Also, if you could post an image taken from an opposite site, it will be nice.

I got it from Mike, Galactic Stone . It's quite beautiful.

Here is the other side. Quality of photo isn't good, as I couldn't use flash, it washed it out.

Thank you for posting better images! It looks like it is a complete individual, with no polished window. It will be interesting to see inside. Sometimes they display an interesting pattern:

It has a polished window, but the polish is very high and there is not a lot of unoxidized metal in this particular specimen. So, it doesn't show up well in the photo. It's one of those polishes where you can see your reflection in it like a mirror, but if you don't see it from just the right angle, the light won't catch off the metal. If that makes any sense. In other words, it's all in the camera, lighting, angles, etc.

Here is my original photo of it. As you can see, my photo is not that great. I love meteorites, but have no gift for photography. ;)

Thanks Mike! At the very top of your image of it, you can see the high polish on it. If a photo was taken showing the entire high polish, one would not be able to see any detail on that side.

Yes, it is not easy to take a good picture of a rock.
Here's mine.

Nice catch, Carol. Cool provenance as well. You may want to PM Mike and document the finders name for your records.
