The 35% illuminated waning crescent Moon will occult magnitude +3.8 Mu Sagittarii for observers in far northern Europe during the early morning of 2013 MAR 06. For those on the only graze path, the star will appear to wink on and off as lunar hills and valleys pass by. There will be a full occultation for folks north of the graze path. Immersion will occur on the lunar bright limb and emersion on the dark limb.
I’ve created a graze map, table of Besselian elements, and an Edinburgh, Scotland preview graphic with data. They can be seen at my new webpage for occultations: www.CurtRenz.com/occultations
Photos and descriptions of the event would be welcome additions to this thread. Timing predictions for specific locations will be provided, if you reply to this post with a longitude, latitude, elevation and time zone.
