I see on the charts tonight we have two moon transits and the GRS as well from 7-11 pm EST, so hope for clear skies!

Arg! We've got wall to wall clouds, and a nearly totally white CSC forecast.

Went out about 40 minutes ago to see one moon in transit... still in progress as I post. Pretty good seeing here tonight in southern California...

No chance here. Haven't seen anything but clouds since the last 9 day old moon. Plus, I ordered an eyepiece yesterday and it was shipped today. I'm pooched for a week at least. :cloudy:

It's been clouds here as well. It was clear maybe right after that blizzard, and clouds since. I'm not kidding.

Thanks for the heads up. Excellent seeing here in Concord. The Europa transit was crystal clear. Also saw the E & F stars in M42 for the first time. I have seen the E before but never the F. :jump:

Wow you must have had great seeing to get E & F with your 8".

I missed it last night as rain moved in. Hope to have clear skies tomorrow:)

4/5 on the Clear Sky Chart. I was amazed when the E star was just right there no fading in & out, no averted vision just sitting there like no big deal. So started my search for the F not remembering where it is but saw something faint and ran and got my chart. Yep right where I was seeing it the illusive F. Jupiter was super clear and Europas shadow looked like it had been drawn in with black ink.

Glad for you Joe that you got that kind of night! I always go to bed with a big smile on my face whenI get a night like that. Unfortunately my cloud zapper didn't work for me yesterday. :p

I've had a long winter of cloud but last Tuesday sort of made up for it (a bit). Here in the north winter we sometimes get a very rapid drop in temperature that crystalizes the air in an amazing way. It's then that I feel like I have the Hubble telescope in my backyard rather than a 10" dob. I get to see detail on the planets, colors in star clusters, etc. Those are the moments that stay with you forever.
