Hey guys,

I just bought the G11 tripod for my GM-8. Losmandy quotes the weight of their G11 tripod to be 35 lbs, but my scale measures it to be only 29 lbs. The foldable tripod of the GM-8 is correctly measured to be 15 lbs.

Am I missing any parts or did he change the material of certain components?

Thanks for reading.

35LB is probably shipping weight.

But then why does the GM8 tripod weight spec agree with my measurement?

Good question, maybe losmandy is using smaller gauge tubing in their mounts to cut costs.

Geza,
Is that the Lw Tripod for the G8/G11 or the HD Tripod? I know that my HD Tripod was one HEAVY sucker. #35 wouldn't surprise me at all.

I'm talking about the HD tripod in comparison to the LW tripod.
LW tripod: 15lbs/15lbs (spec/measurement)
HD tripod: 35lbs/29lbs (spec/measurement)

Why don't you just call Losmandy and ask?? That would be the simple way.
