My 1st gen Boltwood cloud and rain sensor is back up and running. The thermal grease used to both seal out the elements and provide electrical isolation of IR sky temperature sensor and the rain sensor circuit needed to be replaced.

The sensor would always report the sky temperature as being between -10F an +4F. That would cause the sensor to always display "Very Cloudy". The sensor will be placed back online on the website's weather page in a few days, after it is calibrated.

If you need the sensor calibrated on a competely overcast sky, send it to me. The weather here this past year had set a new standard in poor.
