I am making arrangements to take my scope to a clear area in the National Forest Shooting range that is closed at dusk. I am thinking of taking my scope to work and drive out there. It's about 40 or so miles drive. I am wondering if storing my scope in my car all day will hurt it.

Don't leave uncovered or where any sun heats up your car.

If you don't have a case roll it in a blanket, basically imagine how you would treat a very small child!

Apart from the ones I own scopes are normally tolerant of most things except moisture which won't dry out. Dry, dry, dry is the way to store any scope.

If it comes in covered in dew or frost, leave it to evapourate naturally as soon as you take it from your car.

I might just take in the office then. But I'll leave the tripod part in the car..
