Greetings - has anybody any info on the new iOptron minitower II ???
Is it an improvement over the original one, or just marketing?
Have the original problems been resolved - i.e. the ones requiring expensive and time consuming tuning services?

How about the iOptron minitower pro? How much improved is it over the un-pro minitower :-)

Please let me know - I am looking for a small goto mount (to carry an AT72, or an Orion 127 MakCass) as grab and go to combat suburban light pollution, plus it has to be a good travel mount that can be schlepped on the plane as carry-on.

Cheers and beers,
Michael

Try the Yahoo Minitower group. I think you'll get responses there.

There are two Ioptron/Minitower Groups on Yahoo. Look at
both. The one that Graham and Steve support will give you
their impressions and recommendations.
Good hunting

From what I have read, the salt clutch is very hard to tighten, which can lead to losing alignment with a slight bump, or changing eyepieces. A shame, I was really leaning towards this mount for outreach.

Hi Wes.
Your right, If Guy goes to either of these forums you mention, as Steve and I support both, he will get all the answers.
cheers.
Graham.

John.
I have developed a simple mod to that ALT clutch that completely cures that problem.
I can use C9.25 or an Equinox 120ED and another OTA on the other end at the same time with no problems at all.
cheers.
Graham.

Please share the fix then biz, cause I hope to make a decision shortly, plus a FB friend has this issue with his tower. The LX80s appear to be getting better out there, and its between the LX80, the Minitower, or keeping it simple with a Twilight II for me.

John.
If you decide on purchasing any of the 3 MT models just send me a private message and then we can deal with it.. This mod is in my opinion needed on all three and there have been absolutely no complaints from any who have fitted it.
cheers.
Graham.
