Hey Group,
I have a new CGEM and I was wondering if anyone new if Astrotortilla is even needed or better than the software ASPA that comes with the cgem? are the two virtually the same? your input appreciated. Thanks

I use AT regularly, and a CG5-GT. For the sake of argument, lets assume the mounts are equal.

First of all, AT can assist you with locating objects and such, but without a good alignment, I get streaky stars. I suggest doing the ASPA, then redoing the 4 calibration stars.

After that I enter the object I am seeing in either the HC/Nexremote/software, and tell AT to slew/repeat/sync to that object. My results have been pretty good.

I havent tried the polar align routine in AT, from what I have read, it isnt quite "done" yet.

Bottom line, a good polar align is the first thing......

I hope this helps!

Andy
